In an article on http://www.epp-ed.eu, Karl Von Wogau, member of the European Parliament and host of the European Security roundtable argues in an article posted on the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) that the EU should triple its financial support for security research, especially in the areas of telecommunications and information technologies.
"The European Union will spend around 100 million Euros on security research this year. This amount should be increased up to 300 million Euros as soon as possible."
"The German MEP demanded at the European Security Round Table in Brussels that the European Union should use these means in particular to eliminate security deficits in the fields of information technology and telecommunications."
